Family Office Controller
You will join a small team of dedicated professionals to further the mission of the family office. The firm invests
in a wide array of public and private investments and social impact initiatives in which you can make a significant contribution. Your role involves overseeing all financial, tax, and investment reporting functions and acting as a senior advisor to the principal on certain financial and tax matters. You will primarily work remotely, collaborating with a small team of professionals. The role requires operating with the utmost data security, confidentiality,
and discretion.
Role and Responsibilities

Oversee all financial aspects of the family office including accounting, tax, financial and portfolio reporting,
and compliance -
Work closely with family office leadership in refining and executing financial planning, budgeting, and reporting

Manage financial, portfolio and investment reporting requirements for both the family and investment team

Provide accounting and tax reporting across a broad array of public and private investments including private equity, venture capital, real estate, etc.

Oversee collection of all tax information and tax preparation

Prepare accounting and tax reports and related schedules including cost basis

Manage relationships with external tax accountants and auditors to ensure internal best practices are implemented and maintained

Manage all regulatory, tax, and entity level compliance

Review and improve accounting, cash management, new investment processes and related procedures to ensure that we achieve best practices

Oversee, review and documentation of strong internal controls

Oversee legal, data and document retention and access policies

Oversee other outsourced service providers’ relationships

Develop an integrated understanding of the family office and range of goals and needs of the entities and participants. Then help refine the operation with full documentation of procedures

Foster a strong collaborative environment in which all team members collaborate on a range of projects
and initiatives
Qualifications
-
5+ years of professional accounting experience including 3 years’ experience in family office, hedge fund
or a related investment firm -
CPA
-
Proven track record of managing a multitude of diverse projects and operating tasks

Strong technical understanding of GAAP accounting principles, private investment, portfolio,
and tax accounting -
Broad knowledge of accounting and tax in the public and private investments and familiarity with a diverse
array of investments and financial entities -
Expert level proficiency in Excel Macros, Quickbooks. Experience with Sage and Addepar a plus.
